The name is deceiving as Stinking Hellebore (Helleborus feotidus) only gives off an unpleasant aroma when the blooms or leaves are crushed. I did not give it try. I have read though, the leaves are toxic if ingested by humans or pets.

What an interesting flower. Does it stay completely green, or do the blooms change color?
