In Bloom #46 + Gladiolus

This gladiolus came up volunteer in a flower bed which I didn't know could happen.  I always thought you had to plant blubs but apparently the plants can produce seed and be spread by birds.  I thought a little red would be nice for Valentine's Day!

Happy Sunday,

  1. Here, the squirrels move the bulbs around...we are still a long time before the appearance of any flowers. Yours are beautiful and perfect for Valentine’s Day.

  3. I found out the same thing. I placed 12 inch dirt beds over mine and they came up through them. I had forgotten they were there. I had planted years ago thinking you were supposed to dig and plant each year. Being stubborn I left in ground. What a surprise.
Beautiful red. Indiana has snow on ground so it will be a few months before mine bloom.

  5. Volunteers are so interesting in the garden, and I am fascinated when a really unexpected one shows up. Beautiful red....Quilt Con opens tonight, but it doesn't feel so great. Not sure about Phoenix next year, but West and warmer sounds good for February.
