One of my summer favorites is the crepe myrtle (Lagerstroemia india) with its large clusters of papery blooms. Mine came from my grandmother and I suspect the variety is Tuscarora since it is fairly tall and has the right shade of hot pink blooms.
The crepe myrtle was introduced into the western hemisphere right here in South Carolina around 1786 according to this article.
Happy Sunday,
How wonderful that you have so many plants from your grandmother. I'm not familiar with this one, but those deep pink blooms are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThis is a true family heirloom, lovely deep shades on those flowers.
