Today I'm thinking about my Grandmama Hazel as it would have been her 99th birthday. She always requested her mother make a blackberry pie instead of cake for her birthday.
Yesterday, I removed these wild blackberry vines that were growing in my blueberry bushes. Picking blueberries is no fun when you encounter those thorns.
They are gorgeous! My grandmother loved black raspberry ice cream - and I had to look it up to see if they were different or the same. They are different, and I don’t recall seeing black raspberries very often, although I do see blackberries in the grocery store. Much prettier in the wild!
Happy Sunday, Paige! I can see the thorns, but the vines and berries sure are pretty!
ReplyDeleteI had a Grandmother Hazel, too! Her favorite wild berries were raspberries. My blackberries don’t grow near my blueberries, thank goodness!
