Bear Claw Plus
I just love this modern take on the traditional bear claw block designed by Cheryl. I was excited to piece this one and picked out an Elizabeth Hartman print from Rhoda Ruth in Petal and paired it with Kona Cotton in White by Robert Kaufman for high contrast.

From some of the photos I've seen on Instagram, many of you are not experiencing a lovely spring right now, but maybe this photo taken by C&T last spring will take you there. Bear Claw Plus is so pretty sitting on the fence.

Intertwined
Plus signs interacting with the background makes this a fun design. Cheryl designed Intertwined and was originally going to make this one.

That is, until the fabric, Grafic by Latifah Saafir for Hoffman Fabrics, arrived at my house and I wouldn't let her have it!
Here I arranged and rearranged the fabric until I had the layout I liked trying to disperse the colors and prints evenly.
For the quilting, I went to Johellen's house and got to use her Innova longarm for the first time. I quilting angled lines trying to emulate overhead electrical wires like in the fabric.
This is one of my favorite shots from the book and appears on the back cover.

Another day of awesome quilts!! I did not see a post about the hop at Quilts by Joanne?? or is it me? hehe
ReplyDeleteLove all the quilts today!
ReplyDeleteWow, that quilting on the Bear Paw Plus!
ReplyDeletePaige, this has been such fun, seeing your quilts and those who made quilts from your book! I have the book, and I'm drooling over all the great patterns! Well done!
ReplyDeleteLove this one, great choice of fabric, and the pattern is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun, well thought out hop. Every participant showcased the featured quilts beautifully.
ReplyDeleteEven the secondary star has a plus feel to it. This has been an amazing hop!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics! Great blog hop, so fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much and glad you are enjoying the hop!
DeleteThese have been some great days of quilts. Thanks so much for all the links to wonderful posts. Google did some kind of update yesterday and now I can comment on embedded boxes again, as long as I use my google ID. It's been almost a year!
ReplyDeletePaige, I love the fabrics you chose for Intertwined! Such a gorgeous palette. And I'm really enjoying the blog hop and seeing how differently each person is interpreting the patterns. I'm so glad I have enough bandwidth here in the Bahamas to load each blog :)
ReplyDeletePaige, I was trying to find one quilt from this book that really was the best, that stood above all the rest, that was the shining star of the book. Nope, couldn't do it as they are all great.
ReplyDeletePaige, I think it is hysterical that you wouldn't let Cheryl have the fabric and I can see why. It's beautiful. I have really enjoyed the blog hop and I wish you and Cheryl great success with the book.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this wonderful blog hop! It's been so much fun discovering new blogs and seeing the beautiful quilts from this book.
