Cute as a Button
The 2nd applique pattern is Cute as a Button. I had so much fun working on this one.Photo by C&T Publishing |
It didn't take long to decide what fabrics to use for Cute as a Button. Who can resist the the color saturated fabrics of Alison Glass for Andover Fabrics. The 'buttons' are cut from Sun Print 2015 and the background is Endpaper from Sun Print 2016. I started with precut 10" squares.
I used matching Aurifil 50wt cotton for the applique.
Here's the applique in progress...
I'm deciding on the layout here and arranging all the colors.
This is after it's completed, but a close up of the applique...I chose to outline the buttons by quilting around and inside the buttons.

Message in a Bottle
Next up is Message in a Bottle, a larger than life outlined plus by Cheryl made from two Bonnie and Camille prints and Modern Background Paper all from Moda fabrics. Message in a Bottle measures 48" x 48" making it a nice size baby quilt, perfect when you need a speedy baby quilt.

ReplyDeletePerfect fabric for the Cute as a Button quilt.
ReplyDeletePaige, this is so much fun. You and Cheryl chose some very talented quilters to share their projects from the book. I've got the book and I've been paging/drooling through it, itching to make something. Soon, I hope (after I get a few other projects out of the way)!

ReplyDeleteYour Cute as a Button is just a lovely design Paige - and your fabric choice is gorgeous. This is one I have earmarked to be made ..... at some stage!
ReplyDeleteHi Paige: I have purchased the "Plus" book and plan to participate in the quilt along that is coming up soon. Could you please list the names of the thread colors you used in "Cute as a Button"? I have a stash of Alison Glass fabric and my granddaughter saw your quilt and immediately requested a copy of it. In advance, thank you.
