Did you see that Rachel at
Stitched in Color is hosting another mosaic contest,
Dreaming at Dusk? Her beautiful photograph collages never disappoint and she always has such a way with words to describe them, they almost transport you there.
All you need to do is create a 9-fabric mosaic by
shopping at
Lark Cottons and add your link(s) to the
Dreaming at Dusk collection.
In the two mosaics I created, I thought about the colors found on an
evening stroll around the yard. You would think with fall already here, it would be a little cooler, but not the case. It's still hot and very dry in South Carolina.

And here are the colors found on my evening stroll...
|
Hearts a' Bustin' (Euonymus americanus) |
|
Jerusalem Artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus) |
|
Crepe Myrtle, newly transplanted and originally from my grandmother |
|
Fading Phlox |
|
Tall Phlox |
|
Hydrangea also transplanted from my grandmother's |
|
Our pecan tree is finally starting to bear |
|
Leaves of the Sourwood are starting to turn |
I hope you enjoyed the evening stroll around the yard. My mosaics along with those by others can be seen at
Stitched in Color. You have until Oct 2nd to enter a Dreaming at Dusk mosaic of your own and then voting will commence shortly after.
And since I do have some photographs to share, I'm linking to to the first time to
Wandering Camera with
Soma at Whims and Fancies. I was experimenting with a new
50mm lens which I got for a steal in an open box special.
Happy Fall,
Beautiful mosaics and pictures ! I intend to join in as well and I've already started to browse Lark Cottons online shop.
ReplyDeleteI was out for a walk the other night...the colours we have here in Ontario are different then the ones you see this time of year. Your pictures and the mosaics they inspired are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed my virtual South Carolina stroll through your photos! Here in the Midwest, most of the colors we are now seeing are just the very beginnings of the trees changing color. In a month, everything will be bursting with color! You've chosen beautiful fabrics for your mosaics!
ReplyDeleteWowza, beautiful photos Paige and I really love your Evening Stroll Collection.
ReplyDeleteI am especially drawn to your palette #2, Paige. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful palettes and pictures!
ReplyDeleteJust like books, there are 'so many activities in QBL, so little time'!! This looks like fun and one of these days I must do this. Love strolling around the yard with you. Love the kitties on the pink fabric. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat mosaics. I especially like the second one.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colors for the yard as well as inside a home, with a quilt made of these lovely fabrics.

ReplyDeleteWhat great color choices. Your photos are so wonderful, I wish I was there walking with you, it looks so lovely and peaceful. The warm dusky hues you selected for your mosaic seem to fit the mood perfectly.
ReplyDeleteYour yard is so beautiful Paige, as are your two mosaics. It's so true what you write about Rachel's descriptions and pictures. A real treat!
ReplyDeleteYour fabric selections beautifully reflect the colors from your walk. I enjoyed seeing your lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely photographs! Thank you for your kind words, Paige. Here's hoping these cool nights we've been having don't run away again =)
ReplyDeleteThe colours from you evening stroll photos are definitely quite inspiring. No wonder your mosaics are so beautiful. How wonderful it is to have plants from your grandmother’s and mother’s gardens. Love the specks on the hydrangeas. 50mm is a great lens! You are going to have so much fun with it :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for linking up on Wandering Camera!
