Since I'm working with limited fabrics, trying to pull from my stash, I decided to nest a sawtooth star within the large stars. This is supposed to be my dark orange star, but I'm afraid my fabric choices in the center may have 'lightened' it too much.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fascinating tool for checking the colour value! I like the idea of a variety of different stars although slight variations in the nested sawtooth stars would give a great look as well as creating enough interest. But what would I know ;-)
ReplyDeleteI thinkit would be so interesting to have a different center in each star...something different to look at in each block in addition to the color values you are playing with. Ooh, I'm getting excited and I'm not even making these blocks! LOL

ReplyDeleteI SO wanted to join in with this, since stars are my favourite block, but it will have to wait as I an stretched to the utter limit right now...Love your fabrics, and yep I agree, too light, drat, but make it the light one! It's fun to play in your stash. A variety of stars in the centre would be cool.

ReplyDeleteDecisions, decisions, decisions. Quilting is full of them. I often wonder how it would have looked had I chosen the other way. I've been shop hopping all over the state of Minnesota and buying lots of new fabrics. More than enough to keep me busy until next year. Karen

ReplyDeleteWow lovely block! Hope you find an answer - you could make smaller sized centre stars floating on the central square which might help keep them dark or light but still keep it scrappy? Thank you for joining up with #scraptastictuesday!
